My first trip to Europe

From July 15, 1999 to August 1, 1999 I took one of those whirlwind Panorama tours of Europe. And yes, our tour bus did drive through Belgium on a Tuesday! (I haven't seen that movie yet, but everyone seems to know the name of it. I must check it out!)

I went with my friend, Del Milander, and joined a tour in London. We spent two days in London before the tour began, sightseeing.

Here are the places we stayed:

     London, United Kingdom 4 nights
     Amsterdam, Netherlands 2 nights
     Heidelberg, Germany 1 night
     Munich, German 2 nights
     Venice, Italy 2 nights
     Florence, Italy 2 nights
     Nice, France 1 night
     Paris, France 2 nights

Our tour director, Jacqui Capuzzo, from London, took us on numerous side trips. Here are the ones I can remember:

Volendam and Zaansen Schans, Netherlands -- windmills
Cologne, Germany -- saw the cathedral!
Dachau, Germany -- the Holocaust memorial
     Innsbruch, Austria -- lunch
Bologna, Italy -- the downtown square and market
Pisa, Italy -- the Leaning Tower
Monaca and Monte Carlo -- stepped inside the casino

This tour was great fun, and not really as exhausting as you might suppose. In fact, the excitement kept us all filled with adrenalin, though we did rest on the bus.
